​👐 In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll learn the basics of ceramic handbuilding—pinching, coiling, and sculpting—while creating your own one-of-a-kind pieces. I’ll guide you step by step, sharing tips on technique, texture, and trusting the process.

  Guest Speaker: Sona Gevorkyan is an architect, educator, and ceramic artist based in Los Angeles. Born in Armenia, her work explores the intersection of architecture, materiality, culture, emerging technologies and AI-generated media. She investigates how surface, ornament, memory, and femininity shape the environments we inhabit and the futures we imagine. She teaches architecture at Cal Poly Pomona and is interested in translating speculative digital worlds into physical experiences through fabrication, ceramics, and installation driven by curiosity how new technologies can expand human creativity.

About the Artist:

Ayrin Gharibpour is a fabricator, animator and educator based in Los Angeles. Ayrin was born and raised in Iran and attended the Art University of Tehran where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. She has ten years of experience in illustrating children's books and performing as puppeteer for theaters both in Tehran and Los Angeles including Aran Marionette Theater, The Bob Baker Marionette Theater, the Skirball Cultural Center and Redcat Theater. In this hand-sewing workshop, you will learn how to create norigae, a traditional Korean accessory. Norigae (노리개) loosely translates to “playful trinkets,” and is used as both decorative charm and protective ornament.

Embodying the essence of reuse, we will use fabric scraps and vintage thread to create a keychain. You can choose between the traditional triangle shape, fish, cat, or butterfly and will learn basic hand stitches to stitch your good luck charm.

Lanie is a Korean American arts educator with a passion for upcyling. Catch her sewing quilts and teaching classes at Quilting for Community in the valley.

Getting started in woodworking can feel intimidating, but it shouldn’t be! LA Woodshop’s Introduction to Woodworking class will teach you everything you need to know to start your journey into woodworking and furniture making.

Over the course of one day, you’ll learn the basis for every woodworking project going forward: milling. We’ll guide you through the process of taking a rough piece of lumber, straight from the lumberyard, to a beautiful finished project that you can take home and proudly display.

You’ll come away having learned to safely use the table saw, jointer, planer, bandsaw, drill press, and other common tools found in every professional woodshop.

In this month’s snailspace we will be exploring different types of anthotypes and sipping on tea made from the same ingredients.

Anthotype is an alternative photography process that utilizes photosensitive plant pigments to create soft and dreamy monochromatic images.

In this workshop you'll learn how to make anthotypes using blueberries, beets, and turmeric. We’ll also have special tea blends made with these same ingredients.

Participants will leave with a booklet on anthotypes and the tea recipes as well.

At this Craft Club LA x House Mouse workshop, we will be making rosette style prize ribbons— the kind you may have been awarded in childhood for participation or achievement. These circular decorations, often layered with textured fabrics or ribbons, are a symbol of nostalgia and are making a handmade comeback. Lathe Turning: Lamp Workshop

Learn to turn a block of wood into a beautiful, unique table-side lamp! Taught by Ellie Richards, this workshop will center on the interplay between the physical qualities of wood and light. Expand your knowledge of woodworking and the use of the lathe and further your creative path as we cover lamp-construction techniques and the fundamentals of design. Come as a total beginner or an advanced woodworker and use the sculptural lamp to light up new ways of making.

The lathe is the woodworking equivalent to the pottery wheel. If you ask someone who does it, they’ll tell you there are few things more meditative and calming than turning.Your instructors will take you through the basics of the lathe and how it works, how to safely operate one, and how to turn a beautiful wooden lamp from a block of rough lumber to a finished, functional masterpiece.

Price includes materials and lamp hardware (no shade). Technical information will include machine tool use, woodturning, and basic lamp wiring.

Join us for a collaborative two-part workshop, where you will create both a ceramic incense holder and a set of handmade incense.

Saturday July 18th

During the first session, Jamiee and Andy of house mouse will guide participants through handbuilding a ceramic incense holder designed to complement the type of incense they will later create, whether stick or cone. Participants are welcome to create a purely functional piece or explore more sculptural and expressive forms, using clay to create a thoughtful object for daily ritual. We’ll consider how the vessel catches ash, holds and directs smoke, and integrates function with sculptural form, with opportunities to add texture and carved details as well. At the end of the session, participants will select a glaze color for their work.

Each person’s ceramic piece will then be glazed and fired, ready for pickup at the second session two weeks later. In part two, participants will return to learn the art of incense making, creating a custom set of incense to take home alongside their finished ceramic holder.

Saturday August 1st

During session two, Allie Brown will lead the incense crafting part of our Ember & Earth workshop. Learn to craft hand rolled and cone incense blends inspired by the vibrant energy of summer, using resins, powders, herbs, such as sandalwood, frankincense, rose, and chrysanthemum. 

Burning incense can be used as a mindfulness practice, transforming the sensory experience of smoke and scent, to one of present-moment awareness and grounding. Explore the spiritual science behind incense, and discover how this ancient practice can support emotional transformation, energetic cleansing, intuition and more. 

Smoke moves in fluid, ever-changing patterns—rising with warmth and gently dispersing as it cools. Across many spiritual traditions, it is seen as a bridge between the physical and unseen realms, carrying prayers, intentions, and offerings while symbolizing purification and transformation.

About Allie Brown: 

Allie Brown (she/they) is a multidisciplinary healer, blending her expertise as an Herbalist, Sound & Meditation Guide. She holds a Master’s Degree in Traditional East Asian Medicine and has been a teacher of Mindfulness for a decade. Allie’s passion lies in creating spaces for people to heal, reconnect with their body’s innate wisdom and live in harmony with the cycles of nature. She offers private one-on-one sessions and hosts multisensory events + workshops, including herbal medicine making, incense crafting, meditations, soundbaths, tea ceremonies, and more.

Fashion Drawing with Bijou Karman

Join artist Bijou Karman for a relaxed evening of live drawing and drinks. This event will feature a clothed model, with poses ranging from 1 minute to 20 minutes. Intro to Tool Sharpening

Learn how to keep your bench chisels, hand planes and other bevel-edge tools razor sharp and ready to perform at their best in this one-day sharpening workshop. Taught by expert woodworker Cam Velazquez, this hands-on course covers tool setup, grinding, honing, evaluating cutting edges, storage/maintenance best practices. We'll explore a variety of sharpening methods including classic whetstone, motorized wheels (bench grinder, Tormak), adhesive sandpaper, and more.

Students can bring in one chisel and one hand plane to sharpen, as well as any honing guides and sharpening stones to the class session.
