A weekend-long grassroots celebration of design, highlighting the sprawling Los Angeles’ design scene in digestible nuggets. Organized throughout 3 days in clustered, neighborhood-centric activations, this event invites both locals and non-locals to easily navigate the city’s widespread design community and experience LA on foot, carpool, or via LA Metro.

This is an exploratory event that isn’t just about commerce…

its an inclusive event that invites it’s guests to peek behind the curtain.

WHO WE ARE

A grassroots group of Los Angeles-based designers, makers, brands, and creatives who are excited to activate and celebrate Los Angeles design and all its wonders.

City-centric festivals are commonplace in the design world, but Los Angeles’ geography presents a unique challenge to bring people together. Thus, each iteration of LADW is intentionally geographically narrow, encouraging visitors to opt-in rather than stay home.

LADW aims to highlight emerging designers and heritage brands alike and bring together all sectors of the design industry including but not limited to… residential, commercial, and hospitality.

Congregating downtown and in Northeast LA, LADW invites the broader design community of Los Angeles and out-of-towners to meet the city’s emerging, independent creatives where they are and draw a throughline connecting other ends of the city to the east side.

WHY WE ARE DOING THIS

WHO THIS IS FOR

People who love design, people who are curious about design, makers, creators, and anyone in between.

WHY THIS PART OF TOWN

Los Angeles has a long design and manufacturing history that is often overlooked when people think about LA design. LADW celebrates downtown and east side designers’ contributions to the broader creative community and highlights the city’s ongoing innovative spirit.

LA is also a sanctuary for creatives who are off the beaten path. Frank Lloyd Wright said it best, “Tip the world over on its side and everything loose will land in Los Angeles.”

The city itself fuels creativity, inviting you to think outside the box and to participate in an experimental community that is quintessentially LA.

Our hope is to continue this grassroots movement all around Los Angeles throughout the year, highlighting each nook and cranny of this great and mighty county and its neighboring cities.

LA celebrates the weird, the unexpected.
