Marta presents Vince Skelly's Book Stools at the L.A. Art Book Fair at ArtCenter College of Design, Pasadena
In the growingly iconic courtyard outside of the former supersonic wind tunnel of ArtCenter's South Campus, Marta presents Vince Skelly's Book Stools. The temporal exhibition hosts a constellation of new functional sculptures by Skelly: hand-carved and -shaped stools made of California redwood, whose volumes house some of the Claremont-based artist's favorite and most treasured wood-related tomes. The books are an intrinsic part of the sculptures that house them; the sculptures are single-title bookshelves that simultaneously act as a perch upon which to read their contents. Book Stools marks the gallery's first solo outing with Skelly, and its inaugural presence at the fair as non-booksellers.
